Troupe Description
Spark Acting℠, a Bay Area based acting troupe, currently includes Mander Zander and Ruth Sears-Blazej. They relish improvisation and interacting with audience members, and love working with event planners to explore new character ideas. (They also have ready-to-go characters that they’ve already developed.) Mander and Ruth have experience with both scripted and improvised work, but their current focus is on semi-improvised performances that emphasize audience interaction. Troupe History
From August 2013 through November 2015, we were active members of the Aether Brigade. During that time we performed at a variety of events and conventions, and helped to develop and perform scripts, sketch ideas, and podcasts; and performed in (and helped to develop content for) Epic Immersive’s Matthew Briar and the Age of Resurrection. We are also regular attendees of Dickens Fair (in character, of course), and Mander has been a cast member at both Dickens Fair and Renaissance Fairs. We’ve studied improv at Pan Theater and Synergy Theater, and Mander has also studied at BATS Improv, Berkeley Repertory Theater, The PIT-NYC, with Zoe Galvez, and with a variety of other improv instructors. Since then, we’ve kept busy. Check out our “past events” page to see what we‘ve been up to.
